As a warm hiss fizzes over a precisely swung break and breathes the essence of Hip Hop into life, “Together” becomes the most befitting introduction to Depf’s newest album “Warmth”. A meticulously sourced collection of 15 beats, all complimentary to the next and the previous. As they seamlessly flow from upbeat, to chilled & moody grooves. Showing how Depf’s production continues to be as expressive and expansive as his imagination will let him, as he takes influences from many places, cultures and moods.

To pick a few stand out tracks is a hard decision, but the likes of “Flow” with its bouncing boom bap break and gritty looped vocal line will have heads nodding relentlessly for days after listening. “Getaway” is another worthy pick as Depf’s Lofi expression takes full form in this dusty composition of rolling drums, down trodden rhodes, saxophone stabs, dancing piano and vivacious vocal cuts, all amalgamating into a wondrous hazy vision of the golden era warped into focus with a 2020 vision. To complete “Warmth” we are transported to “Rio de Janeiro” with a cavalcade of horns and warbling guitars. A triumphant conclusion to an awe-inspiring sonic journey.
