Full of Jazzy Hip Hop and Futuristic Soundscapes, MiDN8’s debut EP “NEOTERiC” is a 6 track statement of his long awaited arrival to the Lo-fi scene. Kick starting with the opening and title track, “NEOTERiC”, we are drawn into luscious dusty Rhodes and met with a bumping bass line and neatly twinned with a tight break, topped with splashing rides. As the focus gradually shifts to a lead horn, stabbing and scatting rhythmically, we crescendo and transition into “HULLABALOO”. A Gritty vocal sample instantly sets the tone of the forthcoming track and with out any hesitation we are thrown into clean cut Jazz beat that swings from wall to wall. Wandering keys trailing and grooving into each others rhythms effortlessly and all drawn into time with a stomping break and walking bass line.

As we move through the EP MiDN8’s style hits with every beat, from; instrumentation, foley, liquid smooth grooves, and all round production skill. MiDN8 likes to produce through the night hours and this transposes to his music, Most evident on “U”. A slower more somber track with reflective keys, light foley, thumping bass drum and “U” vocal. A minimal track in terms of instrumentation, however perfectly executed to bring full effect and portray emotion through every note. The conclusion of “NEOTERiC” is: “DENOUEMENT”. In name as it is in sound, this track perfectly draws together all its predecessors and is the effortless resolve for the EP. Bringing the Jazzy tones of distorted Rhodes, mixed with rumbling bass line and mystical pads sweeping into and out of focus as twinkling keys sprout in to existence and fade back into the etheric undertones.
