SP404 beats and meditative HandPan melodies give Reo an incredibly unique point of view as he dives head first into lofi beats.

Reo has had many successful music projects over the past few years, notably a campaign with Converse, Beatbox Championships and many HandPan events. All leading him to the inevitable pursuit of creating a solid project, one which will tell his story and incorporates all his experiences and influences up to this point.

Enter “Airport’88” a 14 track album that takes a look at Lofi Beats through Reo’s eyes. Dusty Jazz infused instrumentation collides with heavy hip hop breaks and warm bass tones. The atmosphere for the album is instantly set with the opening, and title track, Airport’88. Scattered percussion shuffles and ricochets from kicks and snares as bass pulses fill the lows while twisted vocals stabs and pads intertwined with keys take the lead. It’s an avante garde take on the classic lofi sound and this continues throughout. From the vibrant and energetic highs of “Airpoirt’88” and “Sunny Afternoon” there are more somber tracks, for example “Maple Syrup” that supply us with a respite from the hip hop grooves and slip into a downtempo and dreamy mood. Through the highs and lows, Reo maintains a cohesive project that flows from start to finish and takes the listener on a journey through lofi soundscapes that capture the imagination and leave us wanting to hit repeat.
